Following a weekend in Oslo with a final review of all the photographs, editing is now complete on the series of the 10 NJP photographers.
On 13 and 14 October, the photographers met at the Fritt Ord Foundation’s premises in Oslo to make the final selection of pictures for their projects. Editors Rune Eraker, Laara Matsen and Espen Rasmussen began by reviewing a large selection of pictures and making suggestions about how the stories can be pieced together. After that, they met with Gösta Flemming from the Swedish publishing house Journal, to incorporate his editing proposals.
The weekend session in Oslo was used to make an in-depth review of all the stories. Each of the 10 photographers got to spend 45 minutes with the four editors, talking about the selections, re-editing and discussing text proposals. Flemming from Journal publishing house had also brought sketches for the layout of the first edition of the NJP book, and he showed how the various series can be built up on the pages.
On Sunday, all 10 completed series were shown in plenary. The book production process is now well underway. Gösta Flemming of Journal will be publishing the first edition of the NJP book. In the months ahead, efforts will be concentrated on layout, picture presentation and texts, all in close cooperation with the NJP photographers.
