Linda Bournane Engelberth, one of 10 NJP photographers, will present her project on the lives of the Roma people at the 2012 Trondheim Documentary Festival.
At 3 p.m. on Saturday, 1 December, Engelberth is scheduled to take the stage at this year’s Documentary Festival in Trondheim. She will present her NJP project on the Roma, produced after shadowing them closely in their home country of Romania, in Norway and on the journey between the two countries.
”This is the life of the Roma that Europeans know nothing about. Unemployment and a lack of education mean that they have to travel to earn money. Life is hard on the streets of Oslo and most of Roma long for and dream of the time when they will be back at home with their families in Romania. My project is about people from two cities in Romania. Where do they come from and what it is that compels the Roma from these cities to come to Norway year after year?” asks Engelberth.
