After a long period of time when I have focused on other projects and assignments, I am now back in Finnmark County.

I’ll be here more or less until Christmas, and I’m looking forward to delving into the young people’s lives again. I’ve never been here in the autumn before, so I try to seek out activities that are typical for this time of the year. Over the next few weeks, I will be hunting moose and grouse and culling reindeer.

There are still some young people who are interested in cultivating these traditions, even if they stand in stark contrast to what most people choose to do in their spare time. For the moment, the light is still here and the autumn colours are vibrant, but the days are getting shorter and shorter, and I’m excited about the photographic challenge and the social changes the encroaching darkness will bring.
