{"id":8159,"date":"2017-09-21T10:26:16","date_gmt":"2017-09-21T08:26:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/njp.no\/?p=8159"},"modified":"2023-03-22T08:29:37","modified_gmt":"2023-03-22T07:29:37","slug":"prestigious-prize-to-abusdal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/njp.no\/en\/2017\/prestigious-prize-to-abusdal\/","title":{"rendered":"Prestigious prize to Abusdal"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Terje Abusdal, a participant in the second round of The Norwegian Journal of Photography, has been awarded the prestigious Leica Oskar Barnack Award for 2017.<\/h3>\n<p>Over the past year, the photographer has focused on the people in the Finnskog region, exploring questions of identity and affinity.\u00a0 Finnskog comprises a vast contiguous forest that extends along both sides of the border between Sol\u00f8r in Norway and V\u00e4rmland in Sweden. The area is named after the Finnish immigrants, the so-called &#8216;Forest Finns&#8217;, who settled there in the 16th and 17th centuries.<\/p>\n<p>The culture of the Forest Finns as it was 400 years ago no longer exists, at the same time as a growing number of people feel an affinity to it.
