The project, which he has worked on for a lengthy period of time, has attracted considerable international attention: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/culture\/photo-booth\/knut-egil-wangs-southbound\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New Yorker<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanphotomag.com\/photo-gallery\/2014\/08\/beautifully-funny-photos-norwegians-vacationing-to-escape-endless-winter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Photo<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/blogs\/behold\/2014\/09\/01\/knut_egil_wang_photographs_norwegians_on_vacation_in_his_book_southbound.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Slate.com<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/fstoppers.com\/documentary\/southbound-series-captures-yearly-migration-norwegians-sunnier-shores-33637\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FStoppers<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.featureshoot.com\/2014\/08\/compelling-photos-norwegians-headed-south-holidays\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FeatureShoot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/105649377\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">presentation on Vimeo<\/a> gives a glimpse of the content of Wang&#8217;s book.<\/p>\n<p>Long, dark winters mean that Norwegians like to travel to more southerly latitudes. The &#8216;South&#8217; is a collective designation that describes most sunny holiday destinations. Most are in southern Europe, but they may also be located in other areas where there are sunbeds, beaches, swimming pools, cheap shops and reasonably priced alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>Many of these holiday destinations are very similar. The main attraction is not the local culture, but the warm climate.
