{"id":1710,"date":"2013-04-26T08:13:14","date_gmt":"2013-04-26T06:13:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.njp.no\/?p=1710"},"modified":"2023-03-22T08:29:59","modified_gmt":"2023-03-22T07:29:59","slug":"won-the-2013-sony-world-photography-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/njp.no\/en\/2013\/won-the-2013-sony-world-photography-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Win at the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Andrea Gjestvang has won the main prize in the \u00a0the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards for her series &#8220;One day in history&#8221;.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With more than 122.000 entries from over 170 countries, Gjestvang received the L&#8217;Iris d&#8217;Or Thursday night in an award ceremony in London. The judges voted unanimously for Gjestvang\u2019s powerful series of portraits of children and youths who survived the July 2011 massacre on the island of Utoeya, outside Oslo.<\/p>\n<p>Chair of the Honorary Jury, Catherine Chermayeff, Director of Special Projects at Magnum Photos, adds: \u201cAs the Jury Chairman I am delighted that Andrea Gjestvang has won the L&#8217;Iris d&#8217;Or prize. The entire jury was unanimous in selecting this body of work. \u2018One Day in History\u2019 is a quiet, thoughtful and ultimately powerful voice for the children and survivors of the massacre in Norway. We were all moved by the dignity and beauty of these images.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gjestvang\u2019s series won the People category in the Professional competition of the <a href=\"http:\/\/worldphoto.org\/about-the-sony-world-photography-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sony World Photography Awards<\/a> and was selected as the overall winner from the 15 Professional category winners by the Honorary Jury. She has received several awards for the work on survivers: <a href=\"http:\/\/fotojournalisten.no\/2013\/03\/arets-bilder-2012\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Picture of the Year in Norway<\/a> and a first prize in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nppa.org\/node\/61596\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Best of Photojournalism competition.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Andrea Gjestvang has won the main prize in the \u00a0the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards for her series &#8220;One day in history&#8221;.
