{"id":1157,"date":"2011-11-03T10:28:17","date_gmt":"2011-11-03T09:28:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.njp.no\/?p=1157"},"modified":"2023-03-22T08:30:05","modified_gmt":"2023-03-22T07:30:05","slug":"two-njp-photographers-in-the-european-photo-exhibition-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/njp.no\/en\/2011\/two-njp-photographers-in-the-european-photo-exhibition-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Two NJP-photographers in The European Photo Exhibition Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>The two NJP-photographers Marie Sj\u00f8vold and Monica Larsen have been selected for The European Photo Exhibition Award.<\/h3>\n<p>The European Photo Exhibition Award\u00a0\u2013 epea for short \u2013 aims to create a free space where socially relevant topics concerning Europe are developed and discussed by talented photographers who live and work in Europe and who still are at an early stage of establishing themselves as professional photographers. 12 photographers have been selected and the results will be presented in a joint touring exhibition within Europe.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The goal\u00a0has been to\u00a0bring out\u00a0young\u00a0photographers\u00a0under the age of 35, all on an international\u00a0level in photography,\u00a0but\u00a0that has not\u00a0been\u00a0seen\u00a0internationally\u00a0in the past,\u00a0says Rune\u00a0Eraker, curator\u00a0and mentor\u00a0for\u00a0the Scandinavian\u00a0photographers, to <a href=\"http:\/\/foto.no\/cgi-bin\/articles\/articleView.cgi?articleId=44299\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">foto.no.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Specialists in photography<br \/>\n<\/strong>This initiative by the\u00a0Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca\u00a0(Italy), the\u00a0Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Calouste Gulbenkian (Portugal), the\u00a0Fritt Ord Foundation\u00a0(Norway) and the\u00a0K\u00f6rber-Stiftung\u00a0(Germany) aims to contribute to and to intensify dialogue within Europe. \u00a0It also wants to support young European photographers at the beginning of their careers by providing international facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Each foundation selects one curator \u2013 a specialist in photography \u2013 who is in charge of nominating three talented photographers, of taking on the role of mentoring and of curating the exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p>The twelve photographers are given a period of six months to produce their body of work on the given subject in form of a photo essay. In addition, the twelve winning photographers receive a grant and participate in two workshops. These offer them the opportunity to work together with experts on the chosen topic and to exchange views and share working methods with the other European photographers and the four curators.<\/p>\n<p><strong>European identities<br \/>\n<\/strong>The first exhibition opening will be held in May 2012 at the House of Photography at Deichtorhallen Hamburg, followed by Paris during Paris Photo 2012, by Lucca during Lucca Photo Fest 2012 and at the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The European Photo Exhibition Award 01 focuses on the question of \u201cEuropean Identities\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The four curators are Rune Eraker (freelance photographer, Oslo), S\u00e9rgio Mah (curator and sociologist, Lisbon), Enrico Stefanelli (artistic director Lucca Photo Fest, Lucca) and Ingo Taubhorn (curator at the House of Photography, Hamburg) and they have selected these 12 photographers:<\/p>\n<p>Catarina Botelho\u00a0(Lisbon, Portugal),\u00a0Jos\u00e9 Pedro Cortes\u00a0(Lisbon, Portugal),\u00a0Gabriele Croppi\u00a0(Milan, Italy),\u00a0Jo\u00e3o Grama\u00a0(Lisbon, Portugal),\u00a0Monica Larsen\u00a0(Oslo, Norway),Frederic Lezmi\u00a0(Cologne, Germany),\u00a0Pietro Masturzo\u00a0(Naples, Italy),\u00a0Hannah Modigh\u00a0(Stockholm, Sweden),\u00a0Davide Monteleone\u00a0(Rome, Italy),\u00a0Linn Schr\u00f6der\u00a0(Hamburg, Germany),\u00a0Marie Sj\u00f8vold\u00a0(Oslo, Norway) and Isabelle Wenzel\u00a0(Amsterdam, The Netherlands).<\/p>\n<p>Read more at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fritt-ord.no\/no\/hjem\/mer\/european_photo_exhibition_award_epea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fritt Ord <\/a>and on the webpage of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.epeaphoto.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The European Photo Exhibition Award.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The two NJP-photographers Marie Sj\u00f8vold and Monica Larsen have been selected for The European Photo Exhibition Award.
